Denial and cerebral operating conditions

This photo, from the BBC website, is of a wind turbine which caught fire in a storm.  It shows what can happen when a system starts to operate in conditions which are outside the parameters for which it was designed.

At a conference on energy policy in Budapest on Tuesday an electricity trader said words to the effect of: “I don’t know what we are worrying about, we will be fine with a 2 degree temperature increase in Hungary.”

This is what happens when someone’s brain starts to work in conditions which are outside the parameters for which it was designed.  It is called denial.  In polite circles.
